Section 6-3 (f) of the Henrico County Code requires that a re-inspection fee of $25.00 be assessed for each inspection after the office of building construction and inspections has made two inspections and the work has not been corrected before a request for re-inspection.

The re-inspection fee applies when an inspector has identified code violations that need to be corrected and those same violations have been found unresolved after two inspections. The re-inspection fee applies to each subsequent re-inspection until the violation has been corrected. The re-inspection fee applies to cancelled re-inspection requests when the cancellation occurs after the inspector has arrived on site. Cancelled re-inspections that occur after the inspector has arrived on-site shall be entered as a rejected inspection. The re-inspection fee does not apply if a re-inspection is cancelled prior to the inspector arriving on site. The re-inspection fee does not apply to an initial inspection for each type of inspection. The re-inspection fee does not apply to an initial inspection for any portion of a building, structure or equipment regulated by the USBC.

The re-inspection fee shall be applied by the inspector noting that a re-inspection fee is due on the rejected inspection ticket. The re-inspection fee activity automatically places a hold on the permit to prevent any subsequent inspections from being requested until the re-inspection fee has been paid. The re-inspection fee will be noted on the printout of the inspection ticket. Payment shall be remitted through the Department of Building Construction & Inspections permit clerk staff. The permit clerk shall issue a receipt to the customer and enter an activity in Tidemark noting the re-inspection fee has been paid.
