George H. Cauble Jr. serves as the County of Henrico's Director of Human Resources. He joined the County of Henrico in 1977, was promoted to Assistant Director in 1979, and was appointed Director in 1986 by the County Manager.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Business from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (1972) and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University (1982) with a double concentration in Personnel Management and Executive Leadership. Mr. Cauble is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)—the largest professional HR organization in the world—and past president of the Richmond SHRM Chapter. He is also a long-term member of the International Personnel Management Association (IPMA). He earned a Certificate in Management Development from the University of Richmond and all five leadership certificates from the County's own Leadership Development Program. Mr. Cauble also holds an adjunct faculty position at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Business, where he teaches Human Resources Management.
He is responsible for centralized human resource functions for Henrico County's general government including classification & compensation, employment and staffing, benefits, employee development and training, HR information systems, employee relations, employee health services, fitness and wellness, fiscal affairs, records, and administration.
Mr. Cauble has worked in the human resource management field for over 36 years. Before coming to the County he was employed by Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia and the State Department of Personnel and Training (a division of the Governor's Office).
He is accredited as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by HRCI—the certification arm of the Society for Human Resource Management. He also has had numerous articles published in professional journals at the state and national level. During his tenure as Director of Human Resources, his department has won 42 National Association of Counties awards for innovation during the past 23 consecutive years. Under his leadership, Henrico County has become an employer-of-choice in the Richmond metropolitan area and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Mr. Cauble is married and the father of two sons, George and Jonathan. The Caubles are long-term residents of Henrico County and live in the Brookland Magisterial District.
Katherine B. Roach, Assistant Director of Human Resources
Kathy Roach joined the County in 1973 and was appointed Assistant Director of Personnel on March 31, 1999. Prior to that she oversaw the Classification, Compensation and Benefits Division of the Personnel Department since 1985.
Paula G. Reid, Assistant Director of Human Resources
Paula Reid joined the County in 1992. After numerous promotions, Ms. Reid was appointed Assistant Director of Human Resources in 2005. Prior to that, she oversaw the Employee Development & Training Division of the Human Resources Department.
