Classification & Compensation

Henrico County has over 500 classifications of jobs in the General Government workforce. These classifications work in a variety of departments throughout the County. The Classification & Compensation Division of the Human Resources Department has the responsibility for this function, as well as for the JOBS@work on-line job description system.

To locate a particular job classification, select the category containing the first letter of the description of the classification from the alphabetical groupings shown below. This will provide you with the classification code, the title and the corresponding paygrade. Click on the class title for the class spec. The paygrade contains a link to the County's compensation plan, which provides the annual, biweekly and hourly rate for Steps 1-25. For information on competencies, click here.

NOTE: Effective April 1, 2009, a criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
