Performance Appraisals

The online performance appraisal process is designed to meet the various needs of the County departments. The online performance appraisal process is simple yet versatile. Employees’ performance is evaluated based on competencies and performance expectations previously discussed with the employee. Appraisals describe in detail, using specific examples, how well the employee demonstrates the competencies and performance expectations. Appraisals also include any goals the employee should work toward to improve performance or enhance skill sets.

It is very important that those who participate in the system clearly understand its purpose. The performance appraisal should:

  • Serve as an assessment tool for employee’s job performance
  • Provide employees with specific and clear goals they must attain to receive an Acceptable or better performance rating
  • Encourage and improve communication between employees and their supervisors via an increased understanding of each other’s job
  • Serve as a guide for personnel actions
