EHS does not take the place of the employee's primary care provider (PCP), but our nurse practitioners can treat many minor, acute viral or bacterial illnesses as well as minor injuries. This service is valuable to the employee and employer as our staff endeavors to see the patient quickly, decreasing time away from work. To assist us in providing an efficient service, we request calling ahead for an appointment. Any non-work-related illnesses or injuries requiring x-rays or laboratory testing will be referred to the employee's PCP.
At EHS we believe the patient is a part of their health care team, with each member sharing responsibility for that person's health. We incorporate that philosophy by providing individualized health recommendations as part of our service (physical examination, surveillance evaluation and injury treatment). We submit monthly articles, "Well Said" and "Food-4-Thought," to the Personnel Update, providing current, reliable medical information on topics pertinent to our employee population. Look for our timely reminders on the Human Resources Internet site under Hot Topics, covering issues such as flu vaccination providers, measures to prevent viral illnesses, heat related illnesses, poison ivy and upcoming County health promotion activities (weight-loss competitions, blood pressure screenings, etc.). For the latest news from EHS, see What's New.
