Henrico Theatre Company

Join us for the remainder of our 31st season!
All performances will be held at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen at 8 p.m., except for Sunday matinees, which are at 2:30 p.m. Reservations are required. 24th ANNUAL ONE-ACT SHOWCASE
Three one-act plays featuring the winners of the HTC Playwriting Competition. The area's oldest one-act festival will once again feature the winners of the annual HTC One-Act Playwriting Competition. Winning titles will be announced in December. Tickets on sale Jan 11.

QUILTERS
A musical by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashek. A joyous and moving celebration of American Womanhood, Quilters is HTC's contribution to Virginia's statewide initiative, Minds Wide Open: Women in the Arts. This story of a pioneer woman and her six daughters blends a series of scenes into a rich mosaic that captures the sweep and beauty, terror and joy, harsh challenges and abiding rewards of frontier life - all told with the various quilt patches through music, dance, and drama. This beautiful and lively musical pays eloquent tribute to the courage and spirit of our nation's pioneer women. Tickets on sale Apr 5.

OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS
A comedy by Joe DiPierto. Nick is a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey and he sees both sets of his grandparents every Sunday for dinner. This is routine until he has to tell them that he's been offered a dream job - that would take him away from his beloved, but annoying, grandparents. Thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. A hilarious family comedy! Tickets on sale June 7.

On-the-Air Radio Players Auditions for The Philadelphia Story - New Dates!
Due to the inclement weather, the auditions have been rescheduled for Thur, Feb 4 at 7 p.m. and Sun, Feb 7 at 1 p.m.
Seeking 8-12 men and women for voices and sound effects operation for March 2 and 3 performances. Readings will be from the script.
(Originally scheduled for Sun & Mon, Jan 31 & Feb 1, 7 p.m.)

Henrico Theatre Company Auditions for Quilters
Sun & Mon, Mar 7 & 8, 7 p.m.
Seeking seven women, ages 18-60. Prepare a song (accompanist provided) and a short family story to tell. Readings will be from the script. Rehearsals will begin in March for a May 7-23 run.

Henrico Theatre Company Auditions for Over the River and Through the Woods
Sun & Mon, May 16 & 17, 7 p.m.
Seeking a young man and young woman, ages 20-40 and two men and two women, ages 55 . Readings will be from the script. Rehearsals will begin in June for a July 9-25 run. 


Dance Clubs

Ballroom Dance Club
USA Dance, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization committed to promoting ballroom dance as a social event and exercise program. Regular dances are held the first Saturday of each month at Harry F. Byrd Middle School, 9400 Quioccasin Road and the third Saturday of each month at Deep Run Recreation Center, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway from 7:30-10:30 p.m. each night. Dancers of all skill levels age 13 and older are encouraged to join. No escort is required. Information: Phil Sisk, 447-0175.

The Candlelight Club
This dance club provides its members the chance to develop and enhance their skills in ballroom dance. Dances are held on the third Friday of each month at Belmont Recreation Center from 7-10 p.m.  Come and join this group of people who enjoy the fellowship of dancing together. Colonial Dance Club
This club is dedicated to perpetuating English country dances that were favorites in both England and Colonial America during the 1700s. Learn these delightful dances in preparation for the annual Jefferson Ball, an 18th-century style ball held every November. The club meets every Wednesday from 8-10 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 1214 Wilmer Ave., Richmond, VA 23227 Beginners workshop starts at 7:30 p.m. Information: Linda Salter at 266-7355. German Folk Dancing
"Hirshjaeger Dancers," Henrico's German Folk Dance Club and Virginia's only authentic schulpattler dance group, is looking for persons interested in perpetuating German dance and culture. The club offers both beginning and intermediate dance levels for ages 16 and older. Meetings are held on the first, third, and fifth Friday of each month from 8-10 p.m. at Three Chopt Presbyterian Church, 9315 Three Chopt Rd. Information: Mark Cheek, 541-5400.

International Folk Dance Club
This dance club celebrates dance from 22 countries. Membership is open to anyone regardless of dancing experience and a partner is not necessary. Meetings are held on the first, third, and fifth Friday of each month from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at Dumbarton Elementary School, 9000 Hungary Spring Rd. Information: Cindy Stockdon, 261-3624.

Square and Round Dance Clubs
Want to learn America's official dance form with a fun group of folks? The Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks sponsors many square and round dance clubs. A free brochure with program dates, times, and locations is available by calling Elaine Payne, 501-5115.


Music Groups

Henrico Community Band
This is an all-volunteer concert band that performs at various public and private events throughout the year. Come and join us! The band rehearses every Thursday evening from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Tuckahoe Middle School, 9000 Three Chopt Road. Information: Elaine Payne, 501-5115.

Henrico Concert Band
The band rehearses on Mondays from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Wilder Middle School, 6900 Wilkinson Rd. Come and join us! The band provides music for many events and organizations throughout the year. Information: Elaine Payne, 501-5115.

Henrico Pops Chorus
This group performs a range of song types. No experience or audition is required. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 2333 Hilliard Rd. Several public and private performances are held throughout the year. Information: Elaine Payne, 501-5115.

Henrico Theatre Company Volunteers
The HTC Volunteers is an organization created to coordinate activities between the Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks and the volunteers who work with Henrico Theatre Company. Interested volunteers should call 501-5138 for further information and to get on the Company's mailing list.

On-the-Air Radio Players
The On-the-Air Radio Players focuses on live radio performance. The group produces live broadcasts of 1940's radio shows and is also interested in developing and performing original works. Anyone interested in participating in any capacity or adding his/ her name to the mailing list should call 501-5138.

25th Annual One-Act Playwriting Competition
The 25th Annual One-Act Playwriting Competition is underway with plays and musicals being considered. The winning playwright will receive a $300 award. The deadline for submission is July 1, 2010. Please call 501-5115 for an entry brochure.
