Drug & Alcohol Abuse/Addiction

What services does the County offer to assist individuals and families toward recovery from substance abuse?
HAMHDS’ provides a variety of services to assist individuals and families toward recovery. Involvement in self-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Adult Children of Alcoholics, and Narcotics Anonymous is an important component of treatment. What services do you have for my child whose 13 and have problems with drugs?
HAMHDS’ Adolescent Substance Abuse Services are designed to meet the unique needs of children and adolescents using alcohol or drugs, or who are growing up in families with a substance abusing parent. Also see http://www.co.henrico.va.us/mhds/substance-abuse-services/adolescent/.

 

What should I do if I find drugs or alcohol in my child’s room? Contact the Police Department at (804) 501-5000. An officer will be dispatched to take your report and confiscate any evidence.
