How can I get a map of my subdivision?

You need to call The Permit Center at (804) 501-7280.

Does the county have a map showing wetlands?
No, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers governs wetlands. Wetlands are delineated on a site-by-site basis. However, the Henrico Public Works Department does have Environmental Department staff to help you with questions regarding wetlands and Resource Protection Area (RPA) issues; you can call them at (804) 501-4393.

How can I find out if my home is in a flood plain? If my mortgage company is requiring flood insurance, does the county have a map that shows flood plains?
Regulated flood plains in Henrico are designated as being either FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) or county flood plains. Only the FEMA flood plain is used to determine federal flood insurance requirements and rates. In most cases the homeowner will need to submit an elevation certificate to FEMA showing the FEMA flood plain elevation. This can be accomplished by contacting a professional engineer or a certified land surveyor.

Visit the FEMA website at http://www.fema.gov/hazard/map/index.shtm#flood to view the current FEMA maps. Also, copies of the county maps and FEMA maps are available to view in the Public Works Department. For information on the Flood Hazard Mapping update, contact FEMA at 1-877-FEMA MAP or call the Henrico Public Works Department at (804) 501-4393.

For information on flood insurance visit FEMA’s website at FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program.
