Death Certificates

A death certificate is filed with the local health department in the city or county in which the death occurred. Henrico Vital Records keeps death certificates for the past five years. Certified copies of death certificates are available upon request to those persons eligible to receive them.The fee for a vital record is $12.00 for each certificate and/or search of a vital record. Cash, check, money orders, VISA or Mastercard are accepted. The Henrico Vital Records office is located in the Human Services Building at 8600 Dixon Powers Drive, 2nd Floor, Henrico, Virginia 23228. Marriage & Divorce Certificates

Certified copies of marriage or divorce certificates are not available at Henrico Health Department, but all certificates that were filed in the State of Virginia can be obtained from the Virginia Department of Health, Division of Vital Records, in Richmond, VA. The general information number is 804-662-6200. The fee for a vital record is $12.00 for each certificate and/or search of a vital record. The fee for an expedited record search/ issuance of a vital record is $48.00. This is in accordance with the Appropriation Act (Chapter 899).

Birth Certificates

Certified copies of birth certificates are not available at Henrico Health Department, but all certified copies of birth certificates for births that occurred in the State of Virginia must be obtained from the Virginia Department of Health, Division of Vital Records, in Richmond, VA.
