The Safe Work Program is an award-winning* formal crime prevention program in response to the serious workplace violence problem. It is a flexible, workplace safety and violence prevention program, which can be used in any workplace setting.

Safe Work incorporates the following elements in a four-step plan to reduce or prevent the incidence of workplace violence.

1. Security Survey and Employee Safety Survey
A crime prevention officer will conduct a comprehensive review of your workplace environment, policies and problems. Then the officer will make formal recommendations in a letter, which address the identified safety and security weaknesses. Next, a questionnaire will be used to survey employees and managers regarding their safety/security concerns. The information collected will be reviewed and addressed in the same formal recommendation letter.

2. Policy Development
A crime prevention officer will facilitate the development of anti-violence and safety/security policies.

3. Workplace Safety Team Development
A crime prevention officer will facilitate the development of a Workplace Safety Team.

4. Crime Prevention Training
Henrico County Police Division Crime Prevention Professionals will respond to your business/organization’s crime prevention training needs by presenting training classes designed to educate managers and employees. (A two-class minimum is required.)
