Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Henrico County Board of Supervisors will hold their second meeting in November on Tuesday, November 25, rather than observe the usual Wednesday scheduling.
The meeting will be held in the Government Center Board Room, Administration Building, Parham and Hungary Spring roads, at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Effective December 1, the County of Henrico Government Center at Parham and Hungary Spring roads will have a new telephone number exchange. The first three digits of all county phone numbers, including fax machines and modems, will begin with "501" rather than "672." The last four digits of all numbers will remain the same.
To assist with the transition, both the "501" and "672" exchanges will be in effect from December 1 through March 31. After March 31, callers must use the "501" exchange to reach the Government Center.
The upcoming edition of the Bell Atlantic telephone directory will publish the new "501" exchange. In the interim, the public is advised to make a note of it.
"Holiday Safety" will be the topic for Board Chairman and Varina Supervisor Jim Donati's next town meeting on Monday, November 17, at 7 p.m., at the Eastern Government Center, 3820 Nine Mile Road.
Representatives from Henrico's divisions of Police and Fire will join Donati to discuss ways in which residents can enjoy the holiday season without jeopardizing their safety, or the safety of their homes and families.
"As well as being one of the most festive times of the year, the holidays often bring an increase in safety risks," Donati said. "Hazardous situations can occur both at home and away from home - from faulty Christmas tree lighting, which may produce a fire hazard, to the increased risks of having your car burglarized at the shopping mall," he said. "Henrico's public safety staff is committed to ensuring a safe and healthy holiday season for our residents. They will join me at this town meeting to relay preventative safety tips affording us the best chance of making that happen," he said.
Donati usually holds town meetings the third Monday of each month. The meetings are open to the public.
From Monday, December 1, 1997 through Tuesday, March 10, 1998, the County of Henrico Board Room will be closed due to renovations. The County Board of Supervisors will meet in Circuit Courtroom #3 during this period. The Board of Supervisors will maintain its regular meeting schedule; the first board meeting to be conducted in the courtroom will be December 10.
Both the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals will meet in the Demonstration Kitchen, Human Services Building, 8600 Dixon Powers Drive, until the renovations are completed.
Public meetings will resume in the Board Room in March.
