Fairfield District Supervisor Frank Thornton will host a tour of Richmond International Airport for his next constituent meeting on Monday, October 20. Tour guests will be transported to the airport on buses originating from the Government Center Administration Building parking lot, 4301 East Parham Road. The buses will depart promptly at 6:30 p.m.

"The airport is an important aspect to the metro area, and to Central Virginia's economy," Thornton said. "I think many people will be surprised to learn what's involved in the airport's operation," he said.

David L. Blackshear, the airport's executive director, will guide the tour guests through a behind-the-scenes look at the airport facilities, as well as discuss the plans for expansion and improved services. Currently, 14 passenger airlines serve Richmond International Airport, offering more than 150 direct flights daily to and from approximately 20 destinations.

Those residents who want to attend, call Mikki Knight at 672-4208 to reserve a bus seat by October 14.

Thornton encourages public participation at all of his constituent meetings, and asks that each participant invite three other people to join the tour (each person attending must reserve a bus seat).
