DATE: February 11, 2000 Governor James Gilmore, III reappointed Henrico County's Director of General Services Paul Proto to the Commonwealth of Virginia's Design-Build/Construction Management Review Board, which oversees and awards design-build and construction contracts that benefit the public body statewide. Proto has served as chairman of the review board for the past three years. Proto joined Henrico County in 1969. He served as the Director of Administrative Services from 1977-91, and was promoted to his current position in 1991. Proto also serves as chairman on several state and regional boards and committees. DATE: February 10, 2000 The Henrico County Division of Police will hold a rabies clinic on Saturday, February 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at gate four of the Richmond Raceway Complex at Strawberry Hill (formerly state fairgrounds). All dogs and cats ages 4 months and older are required to have a rabies shot. Shots cost $6 each and come with a certificate of inoculation and a rabies tag. Dog owners may also purchase a license for $10 at the clinic but must show proof of rabies inoculation. DATE: February 9, 2000 Henrico County reminds residents to display vehicle decals for the year 2000 by February 15. Citizens who have not paid personal property taxes must do so in person at the Western Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Road or the Eastern Government Center, 3820 Nine Mile Road, to receive a decal. For information regarding license decals or vehicle personal property assessments, call 501-4263. To receive information about tax billings or tax payments, call 501-4678. DATE: February 9, 2000 Henrico County Department of Public Works will collect trees and tree limbs (maximum length: 6 feet) that have fallen on private property due to the recent ice storm. Residents who wish to take advantage of this free service must bring all debris to the edge of a roadway. Debris collection will begin as soon as possible and will end on March 17. Residents can call 501-4393 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to schedule a pick-up day once they have moved the debris to the road's edge. After March 17, residents should contact the Department of Public Utilities at 261-8770. At that time, there will be a $40 bulky waste fee to remove debris 4 feet or less in length. DATE: February 8, 2000 Board Chairman and Fairfield District Supervisor Frank Thornton will discuss "Tax Advantages for Senior Citizens in Henrico" at his next constituent meeting on Monday, February 14, at 7 p.m., at the Eastern Government Center's Multipurpose Room, 3820 Nine Mile Road. Henrico County's Director of Finance Forrest Matthews and members of his staff will provide information and answer tax questions. Thornton encourages anyone with county tax questions to attend; his meetings are open to the public. |
