Twin Hickory Park

Project Description:
The Project consists of construction of a new community park on the 48.5 acre Twin Hickory site located at 5231 Shady Grove Road, Glen Allen, Virginia 23059. The new park development and construction will consist of site work, park access road (1,300 LF), parking areas (110 spaces), concrete work/curb & gutter, and utility infrastructure (public water and sewer). Other supporting work will include features such as walking trails, open play areas, multi-purpose field, landscaping, irrigation, playgrounds, picnic shelters and restrooms. The specific construction work is outlined in the revised master plan.
Project Funding:
Total project funding was $3,000,000 (2005 Bond Project)
Project Schedule:
The new park is scheduled to open October 2013.
Monthly Progress Update:
On-site construction work began November 19, 2012. The following construction update has been provided:
- Clearing of Site/Trees (15 acres) – 100 % Completed
- Clearing of Walking Trails – 90 % Completed
- Rough-Grading Related to Roads/Parking Areas – 100 % Completed
- Installation of stone on Roads/Parking Areas – 60 % Completed
- Installation of ½ mile water line – 95 % Completed
- Installation of ½ mile sanitary sewer line – 80 % Completed
