Built by John Walker between 1824 and 1825, Walkerton Tavern is located at 2892 Mountain Road in Glen Allen. In the course of its history, the structure has served as a tavern, store, post office, voting precinct, and possibly a field hospital for wounded Union Cavalrymen in 1864.
Walkerton Tavern and its gardens host a variety of programs and special events for all ages and are available to rent for weddings, conferences, and group meetings. For facility and program information, contact the staff at Walkerton Tavern.
Please note: Parking for programs and events at Walkerton Tavern is available in the parking lot shared with The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen.

Walkerton Tavern Programs & Events
Walkerton staff explores and interprets the many functions of this 1825 tavern through exhibits and hands-on activities. These summer programs explore the tavern’s use as a general store, post office, Civil War hospital and voting precinct. Learn the about the unique architectural features of this versatile and historically notable structure as the staff works daily to preserve the structure and artifacts. An Evening at the Tavern
All ages. Experience dinner in a historic setting with music and characters from the time period. Dinner is a partner program with the Henrico Historical Society.
