Spring Festival

Join in the revelry of the spring season at one of Henrico County’s historical gems! Music by Chris Campbell, crafts, games, face painting, tours of the tavern, food and drink will be a part of this celebration. Information: 261-6898.

World Tai Chi Day
Sat, Apr 26, 9:30-11am at Deep Run Park
On the last Saturday of April each year, tens of thousands of people across the globe practice the ancient art of Tai Chi. This very special event will feature basic instruction in the Sun style for beginners and various demonstrations of other styles. At 10 am, everyone will join together to practice Tai Chi as it moves in a wave across the earth. No previous experience necessary. Instruc­tor: Jack Fuller. Information: 501-5114.

KidFest
Sat, May 3, 1-4pm at Deep Run Park
Calling all kids, a day in the park just for you! Children of all ages can try their hand at a game on carnival row, take a thrilling ride down the inflatable slide, battle through the obstacle course, dance to their favorite music, explore the Bookmobile, check out educational displays by local agencies and businesses, pet a monkey, meet animals at the “Children’s Farm,” and enjoy much more at this kid-tailored event! Ice Cream Socials
Treat your family to delicious free Bruster’s ice cream while listening to the music of the Henrico Concert Band, making homemade ice cream, and playing your favorite backyard games. Tours of these historic gems will also be available. Information: 652-3409 or 261-6898.

Memorial Day Festivities in Sandston

The American Legion Sandston Posts 242 and 144 are hosting several ceremonies and events in honor of our veterans, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Art in the Afternoon
Sun, Jun 1, 1-4pm at  Walkerton Tavern
Enjoy unique art and history exhibits on display in four historic sites along Mountain Road in Glen Allen. Displays will be located at the Virginia Randolph Museum, Walkerton Tavern, The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, and Meadow Farm. A drawing will be held to give away unique door prizes created by local artisans. Information: 261-6898.

Varina Day

The Varina Ruritan Club, in cooperation with Henrico Recreation and Parks, is hosting its 19th Annual Varina Community Day. Live performances will be featured on stage throughout the day. Children’s activities include a petting zoo, moonwalk, and more. Information: 795-2334.

Pow Wow on the Landing

Youghtanund, an inter-tribal Native American drum group, in cooperation with Henrico Recreation and Parks, is hosting the first pow wow held at Osborne Park. The event will begin with a traditional opening ceremony followed by various drum and dance performances. Concessions will be available for purchase. Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration

Join us for a spectacular event in celebration of America’s Independence! Wear your red, white and blue and enjoy the holiday spending a day at the park. There will be patriotic activities and entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Both the Meadow Farm Museum and Orientation Center will be open for visitation.
