Our agency is proud to be a member of the Henrico Heroin Task Force. The task force was developed top stop opiate overdose and death in our community and to promote treatment for the citizens who are affected by this epidemic.
Community Summit on Heroin and Opioid Crisis
Mental Health & Developmental Services participated in the community summit on the heroin and opioid crisis sponsored by Henrico county on March 1, 2017. The event featured important commentary from keynote speakers FBI Director James Comey and DEA Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg as well as a screening of the film “Chasing The Dragon”. This film was produced by the FBI and highlights the risks and dangers of both opioid use and addiction. The summit concluded with an informative panel discussion on this issue.

As of September 1 2017: Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus (CCC Plus)
What is it?
A new Medicaid program that provides medical, behavioral, substance use disorder, and long term services and supports all under one program.
Who is affected and required to participate?
65 and older, children or adults with disabilities, nursing facility residents, individuals receiving services through the CCC Plus Waiver (formerly the EDCD and Technology Assisted waivers) and non waiver services received by ID/DD waiver consumers (i.e. medical, behavioral, etc.) The ID/DD waiver services are excluded and will continue to be managed through DMAS.

Opportunity to Serve
In support of the Henrico Local Human Rights Committee (HLHRC), HAMHDS is seeking individuals to serve as members of the HLHRC. Those interested, should be individuals who are receiving or have received public or private mental health, developmental disabilities, or substance abuse treatment or habilitation services within the last five years, or a family member, or a health care service provider. Fees are based on the cost of delivering each service. A sliding scale, based on family income and number of dependents, allow the agency to make a payment adjustment. Fees may be covered by Medicaid, Medicare, or other third-party insurance. No one is denied service due to an inability to pay. Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services does not discriminate on the basis of sex, age, religion, race, handicap, or national origin.
